Terms of Service

Last updated: May 02, 2026

By using VetChapter31.AI, you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, don't use the service. Plain English version below — our Privacy Policy covers the data side.

What this service is — and isn't

VetChapter31.AI is an educational and informational platform that helps veterans prepare materials for the VR&E (Chapter 31) program. We provide AI-drafted documents, calculators, and reference content.

We are NOT:

  • A law firm. We don't provide legal advice.
  • VA-accredited representatives, attorneys, or claim agents.
  • Affiliated with the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs or any government agency.
  • Filing applications, communications, or claims with the VA on your behalf.

Documents we generate are drafts for your review and editing. You are responsible for the accuracy and submission of any materials. Always verify dates, names, policy citations, and legal references before submitting anything to the VA.

Your account

  • You must be at least 13 years old (16 in the EU).
  • Don't share your account. Don't sign in to someone else's account.
  • Keep your sign-in email secure — we'll send sign-in codes there.
  • You can close your account anytime by emailing hello@vetchapter31.ai.

Acceptable use

Don't:

  • Use the service to harass, defraud, or impersonate anyone.
  • Submit content you don't have rights to.
  • Reverse-engineer, scrape at scale, or attempt to bypass rate limits.
  • Use the service for purposes prohibited by law.
  • Paste sensitive personal data (SSNs, full file numbers, exact birthdates) into AI generators. The text gets sent to OpenAI's API. Use partial or redacted versions where possible.

We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these rules.

Subscriptions and payment

  • Free tier includes the calculators, M28C policy lookup with a daily cap, and a small number of AI generations per month. No credit card required.
  • Pro is monthly or annual; price shown at checkout. Annual plans renew yearly; monthly plans renew monthly. Both renew automatically until you cancel.
  • Free trial: Pro plans may include a 14-day free trial. We'll only charge you when the trial ends. Cancel before then to avoid being charged.
  • Cancel anytime from the Stripe customer portal (link in your account). Cancellation stops future renewals; access continues until the current period ends.
  • Refunds: subscription fees are non-refundable except where required by law. If you believe you were charged in error, email us — we'll review case by case.
  • Lifetime supporter (if listed): one-time payment, no refunds. Locks in everything in Pro for as long as the service exists. We'll give 90+ days notice if we ever discontinue.
  • Price changes: we may change prices for new subscriptions or at renewal. We'll email existing subscribers 30+ days before any price change affects their renewal.

AI-generated content

  • AI drafts may contain errors, outdated information, or wrong citations. Always verify before sending anything to the VA.
  • You own what you generate (the output text). We don't claim copyright on your drafts.
  • You're responsible for what you do with the output. We're not liable for VA decisions, denials, or outcomes resulting from documents you submit.

Our intellectual property

The service, including code, design, content (excluding government source materials), and brand, is ours. The M28C policy manual, VA forms, 38 CFR text, and other government-published content referenced on this site are the property of the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs or the Government Publishing Office, as applicable. We don't claim ownership of those.

No warranty

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE", WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, OR NON-INFRINGEMENT.

Liability

To the maximum extent allowed by law: our liability for any claim arising out of or relating to this service is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim. We are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages — including but not limited to lost benefits, missed VR&E approvals, or denied claims.

This service is informational. The VA decides your case. We can help you draft documents, but we can't guarantee outcomes.

Indemnification

You agree to indemnify VetChapter31.AI for claims arising out of your misuse of the service, your violation of these terms, or your submission of content that infringes someone else's rights.

Termination

You may stop using the service anytime. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms, with or without notice. On termination, your access stops; account data is deleted per the schedule in our Privacy Policy.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. Material changes will be announced via email to signed-in users at least 14 days before they take effect. Continuing to use the service after changes take effect means you accept the new terms.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of [TO BE DETERMINED — set at incorporation], excluding its conflict-of-laws rules. Any dispute must be brought in the state or federal courts of [same].

Questions? hello@vetchapter31.ai.

Note from the team: these terms are a starting point we wrote in plain English. Before launch we recommend a real attorney reviews them — what you see here covers the major shapes (subscription, IP, liability, AI content) but a lawyer will tighten the edges and fill in jurisdiction-specific requirements.
