How the VR&E escalation chain works

  1. 1. Your VR&E Counselor (VRC). Day-to-day case manager. Most issues resolve here.
  2. 2. The VR&E Officer (supervisor). The first formal escalation level. Address letters: "Supervisor, Veteran Readiness and Employment, [RO Name]". 3-10 business days for a response.
  3. 3. The Regional Office Director. Above the VR&E Officer. Used for systemic issues or when the supervisor escalation didn't resolve. 2-4 weeks for a formal response. Send certified mail.
  4. 4. Outside channels (parallel). Congressional inquiry, IRIS, White House VA Hotline — see the full escalation playbook.
